Visiting the Zoo

After the three nights of camping during vacation, we took a day off to recover and then on Saturday we went to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha for the day. We hadn't been to the zoo for a couple years and the kids were ready to go. I would hate to guess how many pictures the girls snapped at the zoo of the animals. It was a very hot day at the zoo for the animals and us.

We always take a photo in front of the bears.

This bear was looking right at the kids.

Justin enjoyed looking at all of the animals, but the whole time he kept talking about the train. We kept telling him that we would ride the train before we went home. The zoo only had one train running that day because the second train was broke, so we had to wait in line for 40 minutes to get our train ride. The wait was worth it when we finally got on and Justin smiled the entire ride.

Justin kept calling the train, Thomas, all day.

Take care,
Michelle

  1. We can't wait to go to the zoo this fall! We were going to come in August, but time has just gotten away from us. We think Rylee will really love all the animals this year.

  2. That is such a great zoo -- we love it there! And the train -- so special!! My Dad used to drive the train in the summertime (he was a railroad engineer all his working lift) and then worked the train there for many years. Finally, at 86, he totally retired, but I still have a soft spot for that train!

  3. Looks like they kids are having a great time even if it was hot. We wanted to take Logan to the zoo this summer but it has just been too hot. Hopefully we can make it there this fall.

  4. It looks like you had a blast at the zoo. We are headed there in the next week or two (or whenever it cools off)! I love the bear picture!
